2. What is the typical cost for an interior designer in Boise, Idaho?

  • The cost of hiring an interior designer in Boise, Idaho varies depending on the scope of work, level of customization, and the designer’s experience. Most interior designers in Boise charge in one of four ways: hourly rates ($100–$300+ per hour), flat design fees, a percentage of the overall project cost (10–25%), or cost-plus pricing on furnishings.
  • Monarch is ready to assist you with any budget you have to work with, and charges affordable, introductory design fees. Fill out the form below to inquire about your design project!

  • There are a lot of moving parts in a design project. Check out an outline of that here.

5. What is the 70/30 rule in interior design?

  • The 70/30 rule is a popular interior design guideline used by designers to create balance in a space. It suggests that 70% of a room should reflect a dominant style or design element, while 30% introduces something different for contrast. For example, a modern Boise home might feature a 70% contemporary foundation paired with 30% organic or vintage elements to create warmth and visual interest. Monarch works with you to land on a design aesthetic you will love.

6. Do you work on commercial spaces?

  • Monarch primarily focuses on residential interiors; however, Monarch selectively takes on special commercial projects including Christian church spaces and church event venues.

7. What’s the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?

  • Many homeowners searching for an interior designer use the terms “designer” and “decorator” interchangeably, but they are different.
  • An interior designer focuses on both function and aesthetics. This can include space planning, layout design, finish selections, cabinetry design, and collaborating with builders or contractors during renovations and new construction projects.
  • An interior decorator focuses primarily on furnishings and styling — including furniture, color palettes, artwork, and décor — after construction is complete.
  • If you’re building or remodeling in Boise, working with an interior designer ensures both beauty and functionality are thoughtfully planned. Monarch offers both design and decorating services. Learn more here.

8. What sets you apart from other interior designers in the Boise area?

  • Monarch seeks to bring an approachable, timeless, and personalized design aesthetic to the market, not just what is trending. Monarch is also available to blend services with a Christian faith approach, so that you can have a curated space to be encouraged to live out your God-given purpose! Learn more here.

9. Are interior designers worth it?

  • Hiring an interior designer is often worth the investment. A professional designer can help prevent costly mistakes, streamline decisions, provide access to trade-only furnishings, improve functionality, and create a cohesive, timeless design. In many cases, working with an experienced interior designer can also enhance long-term property value. Fill out the form below if you are interested in working with Monarch.

10. Can AI replace an interior designer?

  • AI can be a helpful tool for gathering inspiration or visualizing ideas, but it can’t completely replace the experience of working with a real designer! Interior design is about understanding how you live in your space. Working with Monarch can help tailor your space specifically to your lifestyle, solve challenges, and source the right pieces that fit your budget.
